ayurvedic massage

I have always loved to give massages. As part of my Ayurvedic Therapist training I received an intense Abhyanga Ayurvedic massage training.

I am now happily sharing my Ayurvedic massage skills in a wonderful practice in Amsterdam South (Amsterdam South Health Center, Woestduinstraat 1, 1058 SX Amsterdam).

“I really enjoyed the massage. I got the feeling that you attuned to me very well and that you are also a sensitive person.”

“Good morning Amber! Thanks for yesterday! I slept like a baby”

“What a professional and healing massage! Also due to the specific Ayurvedic oil she used. This in combination with an Ayurvedic consult has given me valuable new insights to improve my health.”

Currently the costs are only € 50,- for 75 min appointment.
Bring your own towels (3 large ones) and pay only € 47,- (it saves me laundry 😉

Each appointment I start by evaluating your polse and asking you a few questions in order to determine any disbalance and what could be beneficial for the massage.

With Ayurvedic massage we use plenty of warm oil (mmmmmm!) that is massaged deeply into the tissues, nourishing your whole body and calming your nervous system.

According to your constititution, disbalance, the season, your plans after the massage etc I will choose a medicated oil which is beneficial for you. A medicated oil combines a base oil (such as sesame, almond, coconut, or sunflower) that can be infused with a decoction of one or more Ayurvedic herbs—combining the nourishing and soothing qualities of the oil with the healing properties of the herbs.

In certain cases I will not use oil, but instead a powder, called Udwardhanam.

There come many benefits with Abhyanga massage. Abhyanga massage is especially good to release stress as it calms the nervous system. Also when you feel weak, depleted and experience lack of energy this massage is deeply nourishing.

To read more about the benefits of Ayurvedic oil massage, read my blog post here.

The massage comes with many strokes, long and short, covering the full body. Pace and pressure adjusted to your wishes/disbalance. I will give some extra care to muscle knots, but in general it is not a strong massage like – connective tissue or sports massage. The medicated oil will do its work, penetrating deep within the body and leaving its effects long after the massage has ended.

Te main benefits are:

  • Increased circulation, especially to nerve endings
  • Toning of the muscles and the whole physiology
  • Calming for the nerves
  • Lubrication of the joints
  • Increased mental alertness
  • Improved elimination of impurities from the body
  • Softer, smoother skin
  • Increased levels of stamina through the day
  • Better, deeper sleep at night
  • Massage in autumn

So just as you consider a healthy meal, exercise, sleep and good company a part of your self care, also massage should be an integrative part of your routine.

It would love to welcome you for a massage any time soon.
